A joint product recall has been issued for a Mickey & Friends figure pack (model number: HPJ88) due to a choking hazard.

A figure pack of popular Disney characters manufactured by Mattel is being recalled due to a potential choking hazard.

Health Canada issued a product recall notice on March 21 for the Fisher-Price Little People Mickey & Friends Figure Pack due to the risks posed by the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures.

This is a joint recall issued by Health Canada, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Mattel Canada.

The figure pack can be identified by the model number HPJ88, which can be found on the base of the Goofy figure.

Both figures are about 7 centimetres tall and the Donald Duck figure has a blue shirt with thin yellow stripes, a blue and black hat and a red bow tie, while Daisy Duck has a light purple shirt, turquoise necklace and bracelet, pink shoes and a pink bow.

The figures have outstretched arms.

"Only the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures present a choking hazard risk," reads the notice, explaining their heads can become detached during use and present a choking hazard.

According to Mattel, around 11,321 units of affected products were sold in Canada and around 204,000 were sold in the U.S. The products were sold in Canada from June 2023 to February 2024.

No reports of product detachments or injuries have been received in Canada as of today, but Mattel received three reports of heads detaching from the figures in the U.S. No injuries have been reported.
