Three people have been killed in just 24 hours in the Lower Mainland.
As of Wednesday morning, there are three separate homicide investigations taking place in North Vancouver, Chilliwack and Mission.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) confirmed the incidents are not connected and investigators are trying to piece together what happened in each case.
Fatal stabbing in North Vancouver
On Dec. 13 at 11:05 a.m., police in North Vancouver responded to a disturbance inside an apartment building in the Lower Londsdale area.
A woman was stabbed and pronounced dead at the scene.
Court documents obtained by the North Shore News identify the woman as Dominga Santos.
The Crown has now sworn one charge of second-degree murder against Anthony Santos Del Rosario, 46.
A mandatory publication ban covers everything disclosed during a bail hearing held Wednesday morning, but the accused is due back in North Vancouver Provincial Court for an appearance on Dec. 21.
Police say the two individuals were known to each other.
Shooting in Chilliwack
Just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 13, police in Chilliwack were called to a house on Windsor Street near Yale Street for a report of gunshots.
A man was found with gunshot wounds and he later died in hospital.
Investigators have now identified the man as 34-year-old Michael D’Lerma of Chilliwack.
Sgt. Timothy Pierotti says IHIT is releasing his identity in hopes of furthering the investigation.
After the fatal shooting, a torched SUV was found nearby in the 46700 block Bailey Road.
IHIT and Chilliwack RCMP are trying to determine if the two incidents are linked.
Stabbing at a Mission residence
On Wednesday (Dec. 14) at about 7 a.m., police responded to a residence in Mission on 33804 4th Avenue, where a man was fatally stabbed.
Investigators have identified the victim and are working to notify his family. His identity is not being released at this time.
"Initial evidence suggests this is a targeted homicide, though the motive is still under investigation," says Pierotti.
No one has been arrested in connection to this incident.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over all three scenes and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at [email protected].
