Sarah McLachlan in the studio recording album for Verve label

Sarah McLachlan has signed a new recording deal with Verve Records and expects to release a new album, Shine On, May 6. Tonight she will perform the new song “Beautiful Girl” from her forthcoming album on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Shine On is McLachlan’s first full-length recording of new material in four years and is currently being recorded in Montreal and Vancouver with longtime collaborator/producer Pierre Marchand as well as additional tracks with Bob Rock and Vincent Jones. A special pre-order campaign is available now at sarahmclachlan.com.

“This album is about moving through the second half of my life in a more mindful and meaningful way, recognizing that every day, every moment is precious and though we all have our issues and problems, our damages, we all have the ability to continue to learn, grow from our experiences, thrive and shine on. Many of the songs are inspired at least partially or wholly by my father’s passing three years ago and the profound effect losing him had on me. I had to find my footing again without the anchor of his unconditional love”

McLachlan has sold over 40 million albums sold worldwide. She is an eight-time Juno Award winner and a three-time Grammy Award winner. In addition to her personal artistic efforts, she founded the Lilith Fair tour showcasing female musicians which raised over $7 million for local and national charities over its three years and in 2002 founded her non-profit organization the Sarah McLachlan School of Music. The school provides free afterschool music education for at-risk and underserved kids who otherwise would have no access to music programming.

McLachlan is planning to return to “Live in The Vineyard” this April for an exclusive concert appearance. “Live In The Vineyard” is a private three-day festival that takes place in California’s Legendary Napa Valley every April and November.
