“Anything creepy or supernatural has always fascinated me,” says the Montréal musician. “Creating horror-inspired music was a longtime dream, and when Mouth Breather sent me this beat, the lyrics just fell into place. It’s about my experiences with sleep paralysis and the demons it causes me to see. It’s can be pretty terrifying, but sharing stories with others who experience it, laughing about how weird it is, and in this case, using it to make a semi-satirical Halloween party song, makes it much less scary!”
The single is part of a series of new music and music videos Maryze is planning to release throughout the fall and winter. Next up will be a music video for “B.O.Y.” in November.
