North Shore artist wins first place in the Federation of Canadian Artists’ competition

Margaret Cody takes first place with Not a Spectator Sport

North Shore artist Margaret Cody has won first place in the Federation of Canadian Artists’ competition for Painting on the Edge for her work, Not a Spectator Sport, acrylic painting, 21”x20.”

Cody says in the piece “I restricted my colour pallet to black and unbleached titanium white. The darkness serves to create anxiety with the unfolding tragedy, likened to an opera or theatre being performed. My driving force was to shed light and give a platform to the growing needs for people, who live every day on the edge of life.”

The exhibition, Painting on The Edge, continues through Aug. 4 at the Federation of Canadian Artists gallery on Granville Island. For more information visit artists.ca/federation_gallery.
