Have you stopped to smell the fir, gingerbread and Mandarin oranges this Christmas season?

Chances are you’ve been rushing around from one holiday engagement to the next – in between work, family, and non-festive commitments. Car pools and root canals don’t stop in December.

We’re pledging to be more present this Christmas – that means putting down the smartphone and tuning in to conversations with those around us.

Instead of overindulging in a Netflix series, take a walk outside in the glow of twinkling lights (we are partial to Gallant Avenue) – and get some exercise at the same time. Turkey and stuffing are on the horizon!

Most importantly, slow down and pay attention while on the roads this holiday season. Leave the driving to Operation Red Nose volunteers – a by-donation service that delivers you home in your vehicle – if you’ve had a few rum and eggnogs.

From the staff at the Crier, we wish you a joyous holiday season and all the best for 2019.
