This photo shows members of the British Columbia Mountaineering Club at the club’s cabin on Grouse Mountain during Thanksgiving 1911.
The BCMC was started in Vancouver on Oct. 28, 1907, at a meeting called by a small group of local mountaineers.
Before the club was officially formed, in order to spend more time in the North Shore mountains and less time getting there and back, some of the key BCMC charter members built a communal cabin on Grouse Mountain in 1906.
That cabin was used by the BCMC after the club officially formed but was soon replaced with a larger cabin in 1910 (shown in this photo).
