TIME TRAVELLER: Paddling the Capilano Warrior, 1950s

Holding diamond-shaped paddles Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) athletes take their seats in the Capilano Warrior racing canoe. The canoe was crafted by master builder Harry Moody, who mentored a generation of canoe builders.

The canoe was crafted by master builder Harry Moody, who mentored a generation of canoe builders.

Identified paddlers are Jimmy Nahanee, third from the bow; Frank Miranda, fourth from the bow; Fred Baker, sixth from the bow; and Willard Joseph, seventh from the bow.
