Ina Koecher (Katarina Maria) (nee Hauffe)

May 8, 1932 - August 12, 2025

Born in Oberdollendorf, Germany, Ina had a happy childhood despite the limitations and conditions that WWII put on everyone’ s lives during that period. She immigrated to Vancouver in 1954, married Karl Guenther, the German man she had met the year prior, and had two children before the family settled down in North Vancouver. She worked a variety of jobs before finding her niche as an assembler/shipper/receiver at a manufacturing company, where she worked until retirement. Ina and Karl enjoyed travelling, often to Europe to visit family and friends, but also sunny destinations like Mexico, and road trips in their little camper. After moving to Coquitlam, Ina loved volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and subsequently with Share, where she was active until she passed away. Ina loved cats, and since her asthma symptoms precluded actual live cat companionship, she maintained an extensive collection of cat figurines (displayed in the small bedroom called the “ cat room” ), each of which was documented with origin information. Ina was adamant that she live out her days independently in her own home, which she bravely accomplished.

Ina is predeceased by her husband Karl Guenther (2011), and survived by her children Florence Bochon, Janet Koecher, grandchildren Christopher, Austen, Dillon, and Colby, and great-grandchildren Elliott and Benjamin.
