Susan Joy Dirassar

October 26, 1925 - July 7, 2025

Susan Joy Dirassar (nee Lovely) passed away peacefully in her sleep and is lovingly survived by her son Adrian, his wife Peta and their son Cole, and her sister June Buchanan. Susan was born in Kamakura, Japan, to English parents, Lionel and Margaret. Susan moved to Canada from England in 1954 to marry Leon Dirassar (divorced in 1979), and maintained a beautiful home and garden in West Vancouver for many years. She was a wonderful mother, had many dear friends, cared for her animals, painted and sculpted, studied architecture and anthropology, was active in her community, and travelled the world. At various times, she worked as a secretary in architectural firms in London and Vancouver, the National Gallery in Ottawa, the Vancouver Art Gallery, St. Francis-in-the-Wood Anglican Church, and the West Vancouver Historical Society. Susan was kind and thoughtful, intelligent and resilient. She lived a full life and maintained contact with family and the many friends she made along the way.

A memorial for Susan and reception will be held at St Francis-in-the-Wood in West Vancouver at 11am on Thursday, August 14th. All are welcome.
