Pamela Louise Horton

Pamela Louise Horton chose to leave us on May 13, 2025.

In the mid-1980s, Pam was the first Coordinator (Executive Director) at what became Disability Alliance BC. After “ retirement,” Pam was never idle and volunteered in the community with various networks and other people with disabilities and seniors, always from a grassroots and practical perspective.

She was actively involved in bringing wheelchair-accessible public transit to the Greater Vancouver area with ComPACT and the Access Transit Users Advisory Committee. For a decade, she was proud to be a leader of the Together Against Violence Network (TAV) on the North Shore.

Pam‘ s leisure activities included reading at the waterfront, exploring the trails near her home, attending travelling Broadway shows and enjoying Bard on the Beach. A cruise or wine tour was often on the calendar.

Along with many accolades, awards and recognitions for her tireless advocacy, Pam was recently awarded the Sovereign’ s Medal for Volunteers, although sadly, she did not know.

A donation to a charity of your choice is appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 10.

If you wish to attend, please e-mail [email protected] for details.
