1934 - 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill peacefully at home with his loving wife, Trudy, by his side.
Survived by his wife, Trudy, and four daughters, Katherine, Janet, Nancy, and Victoria (Jim) Camazzola. He also leaves behind his wonderful grandchildren, Quinci, Riley (Mays), Kelsie (Don), and Hunter, sister-in-law Dora (Joe) Osl, and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Vancouver, BC, on June 7, 1934, to William John McCartney and Florence Elizabeth Robson.
Bill began his career in the music industry at the early age of 18 with Mercury, Decca, & Warner Brothers Records. During his youth in the music industry, he was given the opportunity to meet some very famous and talented singers, actors, politicians and infamous individuals. In 1971, he distributed “ Doodle Art “ posters, a major player in the toy industry. After a short break, the very successful Shannock Corporation was formed in 1978 at the beginning of the video era, distributing products for all the major motion picture studios. The company expanded over 20 years into multiple offices and distribution centers across Canada with 184 dedicated employees.
After retiring, Bill and Trudy purchased their 2nd dream home in Palm Desert, California, where they spent a better part of the winter months for 25 years enjoying dinner parties with friends, visits from family and golfing with their Desert buddies.
Bill and Trudy shared many adventures, travelled across many continents, across this magical world and have seen places and met people that Bill only dreamt of in his youth.
Bill’ s generous heart leaves this earthly world knowing that he has lived an exciting life, full of adventure, but mostly love. He wanted his friends and family to know how fortunate he has been for each and every day, and does not want us to weep, for he is dancing with the angels.
On behalf of the family, we would like to especially thank Dr Daniel Ezekiel for his excellent and compassionate care, all the doctors, nurses and home support staff.
Honouring Bill’ s wishes, no service or celebration of life will be held. Donations may be made to your charity of choice.
