PHOTOS: Trudeau makes a whistle-stop tour in Port Coquitlam

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau checked in with Port Coquitlam-Coquitlam MP Ron McKinnon's campaign this afternoon (Sept. 13) — and took plenty of selfies with supporters during his brief stop.

The prime minister's bus parked in front of Waves coffeehouse on Shaughnessy Street, where he was greeted by McKinnon in their last week of the federal election and on the last day of advance voting.

It was Trudeau's first official stop in the riding during the federal race; last month, prior to the writ being dropped, he and B.C. Premier John Horgan were at Town Centre Park to announce a new plan to fund childcare.

During the Port Coquitlam rally, Trudeau spoke with campaign volunteers and local backers about climate change, the COVID-19 vaccination passport and other environmental concerns.

He also spent time with children and youth, and talked to them about his early teaching days in School District 43.

McKinnon won his Liberal seat by 1,855 votes over the Conservatives in 2015; he was re-elected in 2019 by 390 votes against the Tory candidate.
