Photos: Vancouver is getting a luxury gym with a wine bar. Here's what it'll look like

A wine bar, a salt wall, and a turf zone are included.

Some gyms include massage chairs or healthy snacks in the vending machine, but one gym opening up soon in Vancouver will have lots of extra perks.

Altea Active, which brands itself as a wellness and social club, is a Canadian chain of fitness centers with locations in Toronto and Winnipeg. They're opening a new location in the new building at 425 West 6th.

“Altea Active is not a gym,” says Altea's co-founder and COO Michael Nolan in a press release. “It’s a social wellness experience."

He notes that it offers a variety of premium services; one of those services in Altea's Vancouver location will be Catalyst Cafe and Wine Bar, where wine and wellness will meet.

The facility will include six "boutique fitness studios" over 43,000 square feet; there's even a virtual tour of the space. Along with the more traditional parts of a gym (like strength training and stationary cycling) it'll include anti-gravity fitness, a turf zone, and a meditation lounge with "its own Himalayan salt wall." Renderings also show a kids' area.

The press release also notes more than 200 jobs are opening up at their Vancouver location.
