It truly has been the most wonderful time of the year for Linda Stephens.

The New Hazelton resident came up big a few days before Christmas, winning a remarkable $126,500 while playing her favourite virtual slot game.

According to the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC), her payday came Dec. 21 courtesy of the progressive jackpot on PlayNow.com’s ‘Odds of the Gods’ on only her second spin.

Needless to say, Stephens went into shock after seeing that the lottery gods were in her favour.

“I was playing and it said I won the progressive jackpot, I just didn’t know how much I won,” she explains in describing the rush.

“When I went back to the main page it said I had an extra $126,500 in my account and that’s when I started yelling for my husband who was working downstairs.

“I had just started playing, and I think it was a $4 spin that I triggered the ‘shield bonus’ and won the jackpot on. It’s hard to believe a $4 spin would change my bank account that much!”

BCLC says Stephens is a small-business owner in New Hazelton, located roughly 440 km west of Prince George.

She plans on replacing her vehicle with the winnings, but adds most of it will be set aside in her savings.
