The injured dog was one of three greyhounds on leashes at the park when the attack happened, according to Saanich police.

A greyhound suffered possibly life-threatening injuries when attacked Sunday by an unleashed pit bull at Reynolds Park, Saanich police say.

The injured dog was one of three greyhounds on leashes at the Saanich park when the attack happened, said Const. Markus Anastasiades.

Police were called about 6:30 p.m. and arrived after the injured dog had been taken to an animal hospital.

“We were able to speak to witnesses and also were able to identify the owner of the pit bull,” Anastasiades said.

He said that Capital Regional District Animal Control Services has taken over the investigation.
