What's the greatest nation on earth? Donation.

A large swath of North Shore residents have been in a giving mood this year, according to a recent poll.

North Shore News polled 977 readers and asked the question: Are you making more charitable donations around the holidays this year?

The poll ran from Dec. 9 to 28. Of the 977 votes, we can determine that 431 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

With everything going on, I am giving a bit more than usual this year. 44.55 % local, 41.76 % total    
I try to give the same amount every year. 28.54 % local, 26.20 % total    
I can't afford it, so I will be giving less this year. 14.62 % local, 17.20 % total    
I don't usually make donations around the holidays. 12.30 % local, 14.84 % total

Results are based on an online study of adult North Shore News readers that are located in North Vancouver and West Vancouver. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 3.13 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
