Prince George Mounties are still investigating after seizing prohibited and stolen items from a downtown hotel while responding to complaints of guests allegedly violating COVID-19 public health orders.

Two people were arrested Wednesday morning (Jan. 13) at the Ramada Plaza as a result of the findings, but were released while the case remains open.

According to RCMP spokesperson Cst. Jennifer Cooper, the detachment's Downtown Safety Unit found a prohibited magazine in plain sight after initially getting the call for possible COVID-19 order violations.

However, more illegal items were found following a search of the room.

The search yielded large amounts of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, crack cocaine and numerous prescription pills," she said.

Police also found multiple firearms hidden throughout the room.

The two occupants of the hotel room were arrested for Possession of a Prohibited Device prior to the room search.

Police also found several stolen items like laptops, other electronic devices and industrial tools.
