It's official — spot prawns will be making a return to Steveston's docks starting next week.

Spot prawn sales are kicking off on the docks starting May 17, and prawn lovers are advised to bring cash and arrive early in case of long lines.

According to Tourism Richmond, four vendors will be participating this season: the Black Heart, David, Prawns on the Spot and Steveston Spot Prawn and Seafood.

The celebration continues in June with Spot Prawn Day, which is part of the annual Steveston Spot Prawn & Seafood Celebration.

On June 8, seafood-themed events will take over Steveston including a culinary stage featuring cooking tips from local chefs, live music, street circus performances and informative booths about farming and fishing practices from local businesses.

There will also be a wide variety of kids activities in the kids zone, including a traditional Japanese fish printing craft station, face painting and a bouncy boat.

From June 1 to 16, community members will get to enjoy dine-about promotions at Richmond restaurants partnered with Steveston fishers to serve local spot prawn dishes. The list of participating restaurants will be announced on May 21.
