Applications open for Richmond Neighbourhood Block Party Program

Richmond residents looking to connect with their neighbours in a fun way can now apply for the city's block party program.

Applications for the Richmond Neighbourhood Block Party program are now open and Richmond-based neighbours (two individuals not living in the same household) can apply for funding of up to $500 for a block party.

Block parties take place in different spaces including parks, local streets or on private property in the city. This could be welcome parties for new residents, a barbeque or a picnic.

For applications to be considered, block parties must:

  • Take place in Richmond between May 1 and Oct. 1, 2024.
  • An event that builds and strengthens a sense of community in Richmond
  • Be free for participants.

Applicants must also show that they have the capacity to host a block party, a realistic estimate of the resources needed and the total budget required.

Forms must be submitted six to eight weeks before the proposed block party date.
