Police arrested a man after he assaulted two people in a hotel.

A Delta man will be making a trip to court next month after allegedly assaulting two strangers in a Yaletown hotel.

Police arrested the 23-year-old suspect Saturday (April 16) night after he allegedly attacked a member of the staff and a guest.

"The man entered the hotel at 6:30 p.m. and assaulted a staff member before bursting into a guest’s room," the VPD says in a tweet, noting the assaults resulted in minor injuries.

Police don't believe the man was a guest of the unnamed hotel.

"We believe he had been ejected from the rugby 7s event at BC Place and had snuck into the hotel," VPD spokesperson Steve Addison tells Vancouver Is Awesome in an email. "When the staff member confronted him and directed him to leave, the man allegedly punched him and choked him."

The man now faces assault and break-in charges.
