Vancouver, B.C., ranks as the fifth most affordable city for backpacking in North America as of June 2022. Three Canadian cities in total made the top five of the Statista report.

How about that backpacking lifestyle?

A new Statista report ranked the most affordable cities for backpackers in North America as of June 2022 and three Canadian cities made the top five, including Vancouver.

The report, which ranked in American currency, revealed that the average cost for a very cheap day in Vancouver is 104.62 U.S. dollars, which translates to 135.48 Canadian dollars and puts Vancouver in fifth place.

The statistics are based on a daily price that takes into account "a dorm bed at a good and cheap hostel, three budget meals, two public transportation rides, one paid cultural attraction and three cheap beers (as an “entertainment fund”)," as explained in the report.

Toronto surpassed Vancouver by roughly five U.S. dollars, taking fourth place in the ranking, and Montreal topped the list at 82.48 U.S. dollars earning the title as the most affordable city for backpackers in all of North America for the month of June.
