North Vancouver native Stefan Elliott was traded from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Ottawa Senators in an NHL deal that was confirmed last week.

The 27-year-old defenceman was packaged with forward Tobias Lindberg in exchange for defenceman Macoy Erkamps and forward Ben Sexton. At the time of the trade Elliott had played 20 games with the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season, picking up a goal and seven assists. He was a member of the Canadian Olympic team that won bronze in Korea earlier this year.

The former North Shore Winter Club member was selected 49th overall by Colorado in the 2009 NHL draft and has appeared in 84 NHL games with the Avalanche, Arizona and Nashville, registering 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) and 16 penalty minutes.

He is now suiting up for the AHL’s Belleville Senators.
