North Shore squads win Coastal Cup gold

Three North Shore teams won gold in the B.C. Coastal Cup "A" soccer finals held last month in Aldergrove, securing berths in the provincial championships in the process.

Three North Shore teams won gold in the B.C. Coastal Cup "A" soccer finals held last month in Aldergrove, securing berths in the provincial championships in the process.

The West Vancouver Soccer Club U15 Rangers claimed top spot in the girls A Cup championship, knocking off Vancouver FC 1-0 in the final.

At the U13 level it was the North Shore taking control on both sides of the tournament. In the girls draw the North Shore Girls Soccer Club Renegades won the U13 A Cup title with a 3-1 win over the Coquitlam Metro-Ford Rebels.

On the boys side the North Vancouver Football Club U13 Selects Metro team scored a shootout victory over Delta Coastal Selects to win the A Cup. The NVFC team recorded three shootout victories among their four wins in the Coastal Cup tournament.

The Provincial A Cup championships are scheduled for July 9-12 in Surrey.

In the Coastal Cup "B" finals the NVFC Fury claimed gold at the U17 level, knocking off the KLM Kings from South Burnaby 2-1 in the championship game. The Fury will now compete in the Les Sinnott Memorial Boys Provincial B Cup tournament scheduled for July 9-12 in Penticton.
