Keith Jackson earns second straight PacWest player of the year award

Eight Blues on all-star list as provincial championships kick off in Burnaby

Capilano University’s Keith Jackson was named PacWest men’s soccer player of the year for the second straight season, leading a pack of eight Blues named to the league all-star team.

The fifth-year forward led the conference in goals for the third straight year, picking up 13 tallies in 12 games to lead the Blues to first place in the regular season standings. He finished his regular season career with 44 goals in 60 games, good enough for second all-time on the PacWest scoring list.

Jackson was joined on the 11-man league all-star team by goalkeeper Hudson Nelles, defender Andres Romo, forward Adrian Sahagun and midfielder Patrick Izett.

On the women’s side the third-place Blues were represented on the all-star team by defender Marsha Chesshire, midfielder Jaimi MacCara and midfielder Brooklynn Doucette.

The PacWest provincial championships, hosted by Capilano at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West, begin today with the Blues women taking on Douglas College in semifinal action starting at noon. The winner will play Vancouver Island University in the final Saturday at noon.

On the men’s side Douglas College and Langara College will play today with the winner advancing to tomorrow’s final where they’ll face Capilano starting at 2:30 p.m.
