The Argyle Pipers proved to be the powerhouse team at the senior boys AAA Howe Sound Championship tournament held last week at Handsworth Secondary.

The top-seeded Pipers cruised through the tournament with three straight wins, knocking off Windsor Secondary 97-71 in the final. David Finch, the North Shore league MVP, racked up 16 points and 10 rebounds in the final on his way to earning tournament MVP honours. Alex Wahl earned the Quinn Keast Player of the Final Game award with 22 points and 19 rebounds in the win over Windsor. Argyle’s Gerial Larosa and Marco Tancon earned tournament all-star spots along with Windsor’s Corbin Thomas and Cole Hartmann and Bodwell’s Jacob Larose.

The Pipers won despite missing league all-star Harrison Archer, who tore his ACL in early January and is out for the season. This will be Argyle’s second straight appearance at the provincial AAA championships.

The provincial tournament runs March 6-9 at Langley Events Centre.
