Too much development ruining livability

Dear Editor:

Unrestricted development and condo construction is ruining the livability of our community. After allowing thousands of condos to attract thousands of new residents, local governments seem surprised that local infrastructure cannot cope with the resulting volume of traffic, services and demand for water. The tax burden of West Vancouver residents is now potentially to include mobility taxes on top of carbon, gas, transit etc. The government creates these problems and the solution is always more government, more regulations, and more taxes. All of which leads to more problems and more government ...

We need to have an Official Community Plan that reflects the needs and best interests of the community and not the developers. And that plan should reflect wide consultation with all community members. We need more ratepayers associations to represent neighbourhoods because council doesn’t.
