Dear Editor,

I and many others participated in a lively and packed (400+) town hall in West Vancouver on Thursday evening.

In my 37 years of living in West Vancouver, I have never seen so many residents from all over our community at such a meeting. Our mayor, council, TransLink and West Vancouver district staff heard very clearly from the electorate of West Vancouver.

Yes to improved transit for West Vancouver but a transit solution that meets the needs of the residents and businesses of West Vancouver.

Yes to TransLink funding those improvements such as improved service on busy routes such as buses to downtown and Horseshoe Bay and traffic light and road improvements along Marine Drive.

No to empty B Line buses cruising through Ambleside and Dundarave to turn round at Irwin Park School.

No to removal of street parking on Marine Drive that is so important for businesses and residents alike.

No to dedicated bus lanes through Ambleside and Dundarave and creation of traffic misery.

No No No to the B Line going west of Park Royal as it does not meet the needs of our businesses or residents.

After tonight’s meeting I am hopeful that our mayor and council working with district staff,  TransLink and the community can come up with good and sensible transit improvements tailored to the needs of our community and those who work here.

Graham McIsaac
