As an avid moviegoer, I was looking forward to the new Cineplex Cinemas Park Royal and VIP.
According to a story in the North Shore News before it opened, the theatre would show independent and art-house films along with blockbuster movies.
I was thrilled.
This would mean I would not have to cross the bridge to visit the Fifth Avenue or Cineplex Odeon International Village theatres, which are currently the only nearby venues showing these less popular but much better (in my opinion) movies.
So, where are they?
Since it opened, the cinema at Park Royal has not shown any of the small, non-blockbuster type movies.
Here’s a thought, if these smaller independent movies were shown at Cineplex Cinemas Park Royal and VIP, there might be less damage to the infrastructure, since the type of people who watch art-house and independent movies seem less inclined to wreck the place.
