Dear Editor:

I'd like to thank the painted rock and stone fairies who travel mysteriously amongst us, placing sweet and precious words and images that bring me and others I'm sure great joy whether in parks or in front of homes.

I was treated to a delightful surprise upon returning from a solo walk to a nearby park.

Feeling happy for others socializing with families on Mother's Day and sad that I couldn't, I returned home to find a painted stone with a happy face placed on a note that said "Open me." I thought it was a religious invitation, and discovered instead that the green stone represented “hope” and I was to place it in my home and stay positive.

It was signed "From: neighbour. To: lovely neighbour.”

Thinking that I was special but not that special, I walked around the block and discovered a couple of different notes on peoples' pathways. Thus, in case you drive, please check your front pathway leading to your home - you never know!

So just to acknowledge and thank the dear fairies, including this one who wrote and drew the image on the card plus painted the stone. You all make my day! Thanks!
