Dear Editor:

On Oct. 22 while riding my bicycle, I failed to negotiate a corner at Forbes Avenue and West Esplanade.

I fell off my bicycle and landed on my face and helmet, knocking myself out. When I regained consciousness I became aware of a small group of people who had gathered around to help.

I heard someone say that they had called for an ambulance. As I was transported to Lions Gate Hospital I asked about my rather expensive, near-new bike and was told that a kind gentleman had offered to transport it to the hospital in his truck.

Despite my pessimistic predictions, my bike was waiting for me when I arrived at the emergency department. I have recovered well and my bike sustained only cosmetic damage.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to those Good Samaritans who helped me with my injuries and my bike. They have renewed my faith in the kindness of the average citizen.
