LETTER: The difference between North Van City and District lies on garbage day

Dear Editor:

You don’t need a map to see when you cross the confusing boundary between the City and the District of North Vancouver. As you cross from the district to the city on garbage day you’ll see Kraft lawn bags and neatly bundled branches, something strictly forbidden in the district where residents are told to store anything that won’t fit in two green carts until the next pickup. That’s challenging with large maple and chestnut trees on the district’s boulevards that produce sufficient leaves and seeds to defy the most determined home composter.

In October voters will get to choose between candidates who would allow bags for leaves versus those who say store it or (like Mathew Bond) say pay for private hauling.
