Dear editor:

Thank you for 50 years of publishing an informative newspaper to serve the people of the North Shore.

On Sunday, Dec. 22, an article on page 29 in the first section of the New York Times, entitled When a Newspaper Folds, Our Community Does Not Know Itself, caught my attention. Many communities are saddened to lose a source of local news.  It seems to be happening too frequently.

On Sunday, Dec. 29, on CBC’s Sunday Edition, there was an editorial comment by a former Canadian newspaper editor on this same topic.

Our North Shore citizens are lucky to have such an informative publication, with thought-provoking and interesting editorials.

Please continue to publish this welcome newspaper for another 50 years!
