Dear Editor:

I have lived in the Dollarton area of the North Shore for the last 55 years and I have looked forward to reading the North Shore News for the last 50 years.

For many years, the paper was a source of information for me on what was happening regarding programs for my kids, keeping up to date on politics and reading the flyers from the local grocery stores.

When I started working as a seniors program worker for the North Shore Neighbourhood House, I began to look at the North Shore News in a different perspective.

As the programs I was teaching for seniors and for people living with dementia expanded, so did my many calls to [editorial assistant, since retired] Debbie Caldwell to see if her department could publish my new programs. I have always been grateful for her and the staff for publishing my stories and the write-ups about my new programs.

My special thanks goes to two great photographers, Mike Wakefield and Paul McGrath, who over the past many years have taken photographs of myself and my classes. Most of the pictures are fun, as they both know my class and I take a better picture when we are acting a bit silly.

Again, thanks for the many years that your paper has been a part of my life, and I hope everyone supports you in this unusual time we are living in.
