Dear editor:

I am a professional engineer and have lived in West Vancouver and worked on the North Shore for more than 40 years. I believe that housing costs and unpredictable travel times for vehicle access to West Vancouver are both factors in a continuing trend towards it becoming a stranded enclave.

The B-Line connection proposed by TransLink is an important step towards reversing this trend by improving east-west transit across the North Shore and ultimately across the Inlet.

The local traffic pattern modifications proposed by TransLink for Marine Drive have been thoughtfully developed and demonstrate a balance between improving local traffic movements, while maintaining a free flow of buses, similar to the bus flow successfully implemented at Taylor Way. It is important for West Vancouver residents to be aware of the evolving North Shore transit strategy and to participate by supporting the TransLink B-Line proposal in its entirety. It is a good start to the transformation of North Shore transit.
