INQUIRING REPORTER: Should alcohol be allowed at public beaches?

The warmth of the sun, the shimmering water, the golden sand and insatiable thirst of summertime — who wouldn’t want to reach for a cold one? Well if it’s a public beach in Vancouver we’re talking about, that better be root beer you’re drinking.

Well if it’s a public beach in Vancouver we’re talking about, that better be root beer you’re drinking.

Last year, the Vancouver park board pledged to launch a pilot project which would allow alcohol to be sold and consumed at certain public beaches. It was reported this week the project has since been delayed.

Should people be able to enjoy a few drinks on our beaches, or would a tide of chaos ensue?
