Expect thrills, chills and oil spills this Monday night with all three North Shore councils roaring into action.

We’ve got rising utility rates, an extensive asset report, and one councillor who wants to take this sitting down.

City of North Vancouver
There’s good news for out of work benchwarmers Monday night: Coun. Don Bell is calling on the city to investigate adding a few good benches to Lonsdale Avenue.

In addition to the bench brouhaha, city residents are set to get a look at utility rates, including sewerage and drainage rates slated to rise 12 per cent.

Council is also set to take their first look at a six-storey, 160-unit rental building at 210 and 230 East 2nd Street.

West Vancouver
Just what would the response be if oil slopped all over Vancouver Harbour? That question is set to be addressed Monday by a representative from the Western Canada Marine Response Corp.

Maintenance is the biggest issue on the agenda, as council is set to mull how much work and how much money it may take to maintain their municipal assets, some of which are in poor condition according to a staff report.

Council is also slated to cast their eyes on the Ambleside-Dundarave Business Improvement Association’s 2019 budget.

District of North Vancouver
Following the acknowledgement of some of the district’s greatest Good Samaritans, district council is set to hear a presentation from the Montroyal Safety Committee outlining ways to make the walk to school a little safer for students and a bit less nerve-racking for their parents. The presentation may also explore ways to get around without the aid of an internal combustion engine.

Council is also set to vote on donating $2,000 to Operation Red Nose and $1,000 to the District of North Vancouver Fire Fighters Charitable Society.
