West Vancouver staff have slapped a stop work order on a foreshore protection project after heavy machinery and big boulders rolled into place Tuesday.

Some of the materials were placed “without the oversight of a qualified professional,” according to district communications officer Donna Powers.

A representative for residents in the Erwin Drive neighbourhood approached the district about foreshore work in early 2019 but the district has yet to receive a complete application, Powers added.

Following a review of “unpermitted site activity,” the district is slated to determine next steps.
