Approximately 7,000 square feet of scrub and brush were scorched Monday afternoon after a fire ignited near the train tracks between Sunset Lane and Sharon Drive in West Vancouver.
Four fire engines raced to the scene shortly after 4:30 p.m., according to West Vancouver Fire Department assistant chief Jeff Bush.
Concerned about the fire spreading across the waterfront, firefighters evacuated two households.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze shortly before 7 p.m.
The fire was confined to trees, brush, blackberry bushes and other foliage in the area, according to Bush. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
