You snooze, you lose.

West Vancouver police arrested a 55-year-old Vancouver man Monday after finding the sleeping suspect using a bag filled with allegedly stolen tools as a pillow.

Investigating a spate of tools stolen from a Horseshoe Bay construction site, West Vancouver Police Department officers searched the area around 6695 Nelson Ave., including a forested spot where they found the suspect.

“I like to think that we go the extra mile,” said WVPD spokesman Const. Kevin Goodmurphy, explaining that officers typically scour the scene following a crime.

The suspect was arrested for possession of stolen property.

It appears the tools were left on site, where the Sewell’s Landing residential and commercial development is taking shape, and were stolen between Friday night and Monday morning, according to Goodmurphy.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact West Vancouver police at 604-925-7300.
