Thieves broke into two more West Vancouver houses over the B.C. Day long weekend, following a month with a rash of similar crimes.

On Saturday, someone entered a house in the 6200 block of Overstone Drive in Gleneagles through an unlocked front door and helped themselves to electronics, including a camera and a laptop computer. Jewelry was also taken, said Const. Jeff Palmer, spokesman for the West Vancouver Police Department.

The theft is believed to have happened between noon and 6:30 p.m. when residents were out.

In the second break-in, thieves entered a home in the 3900 block of Bayridge Avenue in the Sandy Cove area on Monday, most likely through a first floor window that had been left open.

Jewelry and other personal items were taken from the home’s master bedroom.

Twenty-nine residential break and enters were reported in July, according to the West Vancouver Police Department.

The majority were in the British Properties neighbourhood, where thieves targeted high value items such as jewelry, electronic devices and sports equipment.
