TransLink announced plans for a Phibbs Exchange-to-CapU shuttle bus to complement the forthcoming North Shore-spanning R2 RapidBus.

The shuttle bus will run every eight minutes during rush hour, confirmed TransLink spokesperson Ben Murphy.

The 36-seat, 77-passenger shuttle will “grab people that get trapped” at the university, explained District of North Vancouver Mayor Mike Little.

“The shuttle is a response to concerns that the [Capilano Students’ Union] had and also that we had that local students would get down to Phibbs Exchange and all of the buses would come in from the region full,” he said. “Students that I know found it quicker to take the bus back [from Phibbs] to Kootenay Loop in North Burnaby then switch to the CapU bus.”

Slated to start rolling April 6, the Phibbs to Park Royal RapidBus is set to run every eight minutes during rush hour and every 15 minutes during evenings and weekends.

Among future projects, a potential RapidBus from Capilano University to Metrotown is now the “top unfunded” B-Line route in the region, according to Little.
