The province is walking back some traffic restrictions put in place for construction of the $198-million Lower Lynn interchange project.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure closed Exit 22A last week and restricted Exit 22B drivers from travelling north onto Lillooet Road, meaning anyone headed to Capilano University or the Inter River neighbourhood had to follow long detours, either via Mountain Highway and Keith Road, or Dollarton Highway and Riverside Drive. That has now changed.

“In an effort to minimize traffic impacts and avoid the need for detours, Exit 22B was reconfigured and the signal timing was adjusted at the Lillooet Road and Mt. Seymour Parkway intersection so that both Lillooet and Seymour drivers can share Exit 22B,” a statement from the ministry read. “The new traffic pattern is being monitored and, if needed, further adjustments will be made to improve safety and operations.”
