UPDATE: The incident has now been peacefully resolved.
A police incident appears to be underway in North Vancouver's Lynn Valley.
Several residents phoned the North Shore News to report they had seen at least six police cars heading up Mountain Highway at a high rate of speed, at or around 11 a.m.
Police now have an area of Dempsey Road between Mountain Highway and Hoskins blocked to traffic.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area until the situation has been resolved.
Residents also reported seeing a helicopter on scene.
So far, RCMP have not released any information about the incident, except to say the public is not at risk.
