A heavy police response seen in the area of North Vancouver’s Arborlynn Drive Monday afternoon turned out to have been prompted by a pellet gun shot.

Police were called out to the Lynn Valley neighbourhood around 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon after a couple reported hearing some “ting” sounds followed by a loud bang outside. When they went to investigate, they noticed the rear window of their truck had been cracked.

The call initially came in as gunshots fired, said Sgt. Peter DeVries of the North Vancouver RCMP. Multiple police officers raced to the scene and contained the area. Neighbours saw officers searching the area carrying semi-automatic carbine rifles that are now standard issue for RCMP officers.

Police determined the shot had actually been fired with a pellet gun.

DeVries said officers canvassed the neighbourhood, but were not able to find out who may have fired the pellet gun shot.
