One man is under arrest and police are searching for another individual following a New Year’s Eve break and enter at a parkade in North Vancouver.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Ostler Court on Dec. 31, 2018, after a resident discovered their vehicle’s window had been smashed and the car broken into.

Video surveillance showed two males and a female acting in a suspicious manner before leaving the parkade carrying items that they did not have upon entering the parkade, a release from the North Vancouver RCMP noted.

Police recognized one of the males – a 33-year-old Vancouver resident – known to authorities for property offences. On Jan. 10 Jean-Piere Martin was arrested and is currently being held in custody. He has been charged with break and enter with intent to commit offence, and mischief and theft under $5,000. He is due in North Vancouver provincial court next week.

The RCMP’s forensic team has also identified the second male person of interest as 24-year-old Walker Frijters. Crown has issued a warrant of arrest for Frijters for break and enter, mischief, and theft.

Frijters, who has no fixed address, is described as Caucasian with brown hair and blue eyes, five feet 11 inches tall and 188 pounds.

“People need to move all valuables from their cars, even when it’s parked and secure underground. If it’s going to be out of sight, it’s going to be out of mind,” said Cpl. Richard De Jong, North Vancouver RCMP spokesman.

Anyone with information about Frijters is asked to contact police at 604-985-1311.
