Becky Prete from Kelowna arrived at 6 a.m. and was first in line to buy product at the BC Cannabis Store in Kamloops.
When the doors opened at 10 a.m., Prete became the first person in the province to buy legal cannabis.
The federal government legalized recreational cannabis on Oct. 17, with the Kamloops government store being the lone such outlet in the province for the time being.
Two more government cannabis stores are planned for Northills Centre on the North Shore and Lansdowne Village downtown, while a number of private outlets will open in the coming weeks and months.
