Man linked to teen's disappearance arrested for bail breach

A former Bowen Island man who has long been a "person of interest" in the disappearance of a Squamish teen has been arrested for allegedly breaching his bail conditions in an unrelated case.

Gavin Arnott, 23, was arrested on Vancouver Island last week for allegedly breaching bail conditions in a case involving a 14-year-old girl. He faces charges of sexual interference and child pornography in that case for allegedly keeping sexually explicit photos of the girl.

Arnott is currently in custody pending his next court appearance Feb. 24.

Arnott also remains a person of interest in the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend, Jodi Henrickson, according to Bowen Island RCMP.

Henrickson went missing on June 20, 2009, when she was 17, after attending a house party on the island. She was last seen with Arnott on Miller Road, between 6 and 7 a.m.

Police believe she is dead, although her body has never been found. Just two months ago, the RCMP blanketed the Sea-to-Sky corridor and local ferry routes with a poster about the missing teen, hoping to jog memories and get witnesses to come forward.

The poster campaign did generate some new tips, said Sgt. Jennifer Pound, spokesperson for the Integrated Homicide Investigation team. So far police aren't saying more about the ongoing investigation.
