West Vancouver police are looking for witnesses to a crash that sent three people to hospital in Ambleside Thursday afternoon.

According to Const. Kevin Goodmurphy, a woman driving a westbound Mazda3 turned left and hit the victims as they were attempting to cross 17th Street at Marine Drive around 1:45 p.m.

“There were four people crossing. One of them managed to jump out of the way prior to the vehicle making contact. The pedestrians were in the crosswalk and it appears as though the pedestrians had the right of way in this situation,” Goodmurphy said.

The three victims – men aged 56, 57 and 82 – were taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was released on a promise to appear in court.

In the meantime, anyone who witnessed the collision – or has dashcam footage of it – is asked to contact police.
