Following complaints from Deep Cove residents about raw sewage being pumped into the water, the District of North Vancouver is set to hold a community meeting at Seycove Secondary on Oct. 2 to discuss the possibility of a designated anchorage area.

Instituting a DAA would allow the district to take management and control of anchored boats in the area.

However, there are concerns both over the cost of disposing of derelict boats as well as the efficacy of the plan, which Mayor Mike Little previously likened to “having a non-peeing section in a pool.”

The water quality issue was highlighted earlier this summer when an E. coli spike closed the beach for swimming.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
